2003 R1150RT bleeding clutch

Good morning, I have manually bled my (whizzy-servo) brakes and clutch twice in the past 4 years with no problems and its time to do it again.

 

I recently bought a Harbor Freight hand vacuum pump and need some advice. Do I tie the clutch lever back when drawing the fluid thru? Same as the brake lever?

 

Seems strange that I dont know what to do. Never had a vacuum pump before.

No, on both the brakes & the clutch the lever MUST be all the way out to open the take-up-port hole & allow fluid to flow through the system.

 

Once the lever is pulled (even a little bit) that closes off the reservoir from flowing fluid into the system.
