Guest Kakugo
Yamaha, KTM and Suzuki dabbled with that technology (electric motor powering the front wheel) in the past for their dirt bikes but found the increased weight and complexity far outweighed any benefit. Ohlins tried it as well, and it found its way on a small run of Yamaha WR450's, but it was hydraulically, not electrically activated. Weight was surprisingly low but it was complex and very expensive to manufacture and nothing came out of it. Link to comment
