BMWMOA moves

First I've heard of it - no real opinion, and I don't actively pay attention to MOA stuff (though I am a member), but it does seem a bit odd that there wasn't a really obvious announcement at some point.

Been a member since before there were oilheads.

Surprise is right.

Doesn't matter but one would think they might have dropped a hint.

Was letting membership lapse (should paid for Lifetime when it was a bargain :dopeslap: ) but then I saw they published a letter from Marty...

Hey Tim, my letter was an answer to some guy who walked into Countryside BMW and saw all the RT's were loaded. He left in a huff without talking to anyone. He wrote to the MOA complaining about the fact that the bikes were loaded. Total moron, so I wrote the note to give him useful hint on getting thru life. Anything can be ordered as you well know, all he had to do was ask.

By the way timing is not firm so nothing is published. No one knows when it will happen.

I'm wondering how anyone can get their panties in a wad in perceiving this notice as being "late". It's not like BMWMOA moved already.

I don't know but feel quite certain the leadership was trying to coordinate timing of announcements with the other other organizations, contracts, construction schedules, etc. There may well have been more or less a gag order placed on all who knew. Pretty typical stuff for most organization undergoing a move.

It's easy to understand this notice as being "late". Staff have been terminated. To many MOA members, the staff have been the face and voice of the organization. We know them personally.

Unlike a for profit corporation, MOA is a membership organization. The entire process was done without any indication from leadership that a move was being contemplated. Therefore, members were not given an opportunity for input nor were paid staff given a heads up that their employment would be terminated. In addition, all of the costs of the move have not been, and most likely will not be, shared with the members.

This process, clear out your desk while we escort you to the door, is common in business. But I would suggest that it should not have taken place in a not for profit membership organization.

If it is the right move or not remains to be seen.

Know what you mean.

Too often a customer would arrive at a negative conclusion that a liitle time, and or money, could easily fix.

Best wishes.

I think it's ironic that the "Ferguson Effect" is in action here. I haven't seen anything from anyone who would know that anyone was terminated. What's next "hands up don't fire"?

Only time I ever wrote anything to the MOA. Only because I know the guys at Countryside.

I read your letter when that issue came. You were absolutely correct that the buyer could have gotten the bike they wanted if they had discussed the issue with staff.

In addition, when we have a personal relationship with a dealership, we sometimes have a different view/attitude because we have received great customer service and personal attention.

Regardless, the dealer you mentioned has an outstanding reputation.

And I was just poking a little fun at you about it all.
