Need help with tying down a 15 RT on a Trailer

Recommended Posts

I purchased a used 2015 R1200RT and have to trailer it for about 3 hours. I rented a Uhaul motorcycle trailer. It has a wheel chock built into the nose of the trailer. What I need to know is where to tie it off front and rear. Thought there was certain spots due to the type of suspension. Pics would be appreciated.

Check the owners manual. On the 14 which should be the same I removed the saddle bags found a good hard point on the front and back and cinched it snugly. Don't bottom out the suspension.

Since you probably don't have manual yet, you can download one here: http://www.bmw-motorrad.com/com/en/index.html?content=http://www.bmw-motorrad.com/com/en/services/manuals/manuals_main.html&notrack=1

On the right side select R models>0A03-R1200RT. Pictures are around page 103, look for "Securing motorcycle for transportation". Recommendation is to tie down to lower fork bridge and rear foot pegs.

Good method to prevent damage if you do not have soft ties:
