Metzeler z6 roadtek or the new Z8

I have 2001 BMW R1100R with Metzler z6 tires on it. I just replaced the front tire and plan on changing the rear tire soon. I am concerned about the smooth strip in the middle of the rear tire. I know it is there even when the tire is new but the tire is getting down there slowly. What concerns me is on wet roads the center smooth strip is like a racing slick and slides while stopping sometimes. What do people think of the new z8 and would it be okay to run a z8 on the rear and a z6 on the front till the front tire wears out.

Morning Matthew

Choosing tires for someone else is about impossible. Everybody rides with different degrees of aggressiveness, on different road surfaces, with different lean angles, & with different tire expectations.

My personal choice for my riding (aggressive++) is the Z-6 over the Z-8 as I like the handling with the Z-6 much better. But will say the Z-8 is slightly better in the rain once well worn.
