Ben There
A retired Motorcycle cop friend of mine recently sold me his 1998 R1100RT. He bought it new, but in the 17 years he owned it only logged 4891 miles and was parked in his garage unridden for the last five years. I trailered it to an independent BMW repair shop, where it got a new battery, a new front master cylinder and final drive seal, along with an oil and filter change. It fired right up and I have put over a 1000 miles on it and am beginning to enjoy it. Tomorrow I taken it in for the 6000 service and after that hope to do the bulk of the maintenance myself. Years ago owned a 1987 K100LT, that I didn't care for. Liking the 1100RT much better. Link to comment
greiffster
Welcome. Sweet garage find. You might want to inspect all the rubber stuff, especially the in-tank hoses and brake lines. They don't age well. Link to comment
