A symphony on two wheels

I happened to be on Pennsylvania Ave in DC yesterday when a long motorcade approached (escorting the Iraqi PM).

All traffic had been stopped for blocks around so the streets were quiet. Watching the leading single-file string of about 10-12 DC motormen on their rolling-thunder-sounding Harleys, nearly every bike making the gentle 45 degree turn from 17th onto Pa Ave dragged metal parts as each rode by, sending sparks flying and treating bystanders to an audible series of SCRAPE, SCRAPE, SCRAPE, SCRAPE...

Flip up floor boards. Always liked the sound of that on the KZ1000Ps. Sort of an active feedback chicken strip.

The downside is that those can encourage flare foot. You know it didn't end well when your beat partner calls up on a Sunday asking you to come pick up his bike in a shopping center while he's being transported to reconnect the torn parts in his knee. Speed bumps, flared feet and a turn make for some surgery.
