Need Help with the Throttle Synch Cables R1200RT

Need HELP! with the R side Throttle Bowden Cable.

I performed my 30K mile service without a hitch until attempting the Throttle Body Synch.

I touched only the right side cable. It seems as though the top adjuster no longer engages the threaded shaft that the bottom adjuster spins on. The top adjuster spins in either direction without engaging the threaded shaft.

How can I get the top adjuster to engage the threaded shaft? Is there anyone local who can help? I am in Ypsi, Michigan.

Your cable is broken (I have seen a few)_Talk to Mike at BMWSEM.

I borrowed this picture from Shawn.

He has an RT, I'm betting his bike has

cruise control & your pictures don't show

the cruise control splitter box

with the extra pulley, switch, & that

darn spring.

I presume your bike has cruise control-

If so then pay close attention to the things I have highlighted in the pix below (before disassembly)

Try not to do any adjustments of the other side (existing) cable.

Adjust your new cable to the balance of the existing (good) cable.

If you start adjusting on the other side that will screw up the pulley position (rotation) in relation to the cruise control dump switch so you will then have to do the more complex COMPLETE cable adjustments from scratch to get the cruise to dump when you roll the throttle forward past idle.

It also helps to (first) go up by the twist grip (under the rubber boot on the cable there) & back the main cable adjuster off to take some of the tension off the splitter box cables. (put it back to where it was after new cable installed)
