AnotherLee
There are a lot of crash reports in this part of the country this time of year - everybody is out riding. But this crash was unusual - the driver of the car died and the rider survived. Link to comment

upflying
Looks like the roof acted like a bizarre type of air bag that saved the life of the rider. Not saying the rider is at fault but clues the truck was about to turn left should have been apparent. Driveway, blinker (if used) and slowing should give a rider some red flags. Covering the brakes and slowing might have prevented the crash. Link to comment
racer7
Given that this is a straight road with good viz and apparently not a lot of traffic, I doubt the driver of the pickup used a signal. There is a small hill and if that black bike (most likely with a rider wearing a dark helmet and in the head down riding position typical of such machines) was coming over it, its likely the pickup driver never saw the rider. And with his head down a bit, perhaps he wasn't in a good position to spot the signs of turning wheels etc on the truck Certainly a bit of an oddball result but no different than what can happen taking a road rat through the windshield.
