Hover lake Ohio, cold but fun. I guess this is the first ride of the year...

Thanks for the offer Pat, but pass.... This coming weekend we are getting a nice 23 degree weekend and snow.

I'm done with this winter, and hope springs comes sooner then later.

Maybe you should consider storing your GS in Jax for the winter.

Hey Pat, after I got home and rested for a few days I wandered down to cedar key and key west for a week. Going from 80 to 38 temps is not fun. :dopeslap:

Well, actually yesterday...took a 295 mile loop with a passenger through the local mountains and deserts. Highs in the 80s and not too windy.

About 30 of those miles were off pavement. My new Heidenaus were confidence inspiring in that environment. Plus, since they've got about 1000 miles on them now, they are much better behaved on the slab as well.

Too much fun.

On Saturday our local dualsport group CADS, did some basic GS offroad training at the BMW dealer. It was a good environment to get people more comfortable off pavement with the big bikes and by all appearances, worthwhile. Surely not as comprehensive as a BMW or Rawhyde class but it wasn't 500 bucks either. I'd noticed many new-to-dirt riders assumed off-road was similar to riding on pavement with less traction, the fact is it's almost opposite in some ways. We focused on 3 basic techniques, stand up (this is a revelation for anyone that hadn't been), look up (not down in front of the tire, and tough to make yourself do), and weight the pegs in the direction you want to turn. Then we went out and practiced the drills with some obstacles, all in all a fun day with some positive results. Some pics up on Adv, scroll down to about post #100.

Found this nice little boat ramp on the St. Mary's River.

I was impressed with the Heidenau's. Handled great even at road psi, but to be honest the sand was well packed due to all the rain we've been getting. Twas a good day.

Put the Heidenau's on my bike and I do like them off road but on road, I'm still learning to trust them. Lookin' good Danny!
