estysalinas Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Howdy, So I managed to damage the plug wires pulling them out and had some misfiring going on afterwards so i decided that it would be a good idea to order some replacement cables from beemer boneyard. Everything got here promptly, i pulled off the gas tank and to my disbelief my single spark has some weird sort of screw on plugs and not the ones which fit the cables that came in from beemer boneyard. From what i have heard these are often referred to as the RT-P plug wires. Now i really don't want to return these and shell out 300$ for a special order set from the stealership, so i'm wondering if I can maybe pick up a new ignition coil somewhere that will fit the wires? Would there be any problems with doing that? Appreciate the help!
dirtrider Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Morning estysalinas IF, you now have the RT-P coil on your bike you can install the standard coil & wires. Should just bolt on & plug in. If you have a good RT-P coil with intact fittings & good shielding it is worth way more than a standard coil on E-Bay so if you buy an E-Bay standard coil then sell yours you should come out money ahead.
estysalinas Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 Thanks DR! I'm thrilled that i may actually come out of this saving some change :-)
