Caerleon Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 HI All, I wonder if someone can help. I read some time ago that there is test that can be performed with the diag plug or ignition to test the cooling fan switches on, sadly as always i cannot find that information and after about 2 hours of web surfing i still cannot find that test. Does anyone know? Thanks
Dave Parry Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Does the R1100RT-P have a cooling fan? The 1100RT doesn't, Dave.
Woodie Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Yes, the RTP does have a cooling fan. To the OP, I don't have that either, but I'm interested too.
Caerleon Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 Does the R1100RT-P have a cooling fan? The 1100RT doesn't.Dave. It was fitted to RT-P's as standard. It has a loom, thermostat on the oil input pipe to the oil cooler and of course a single large fan in the housing, relay is in the nose cone on the right handside as you face it from the saddle. It was designed to cool the engine while the bike is running in neutral on the centre stand to run the lights etc. RTPs also have an additional battery in the 'radio' compartment. These bikes used to overheat alot in the MET mine has 31k on the clock and it burns oil, its been to 8 bars in France and i couldnt tell if the fan was working.
Caerleon Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 Correction - the relay i think is in the fuse box in posn 9 in the relays. Although i havent confirmed it. The relay quoted previously is infact the alternating headlight.
