Mods: if this has already been posted here somewhere, 'delete away'.

Oddly enough, I'm usually not much for racing, but by my lights, this is a really good +6 min compliation video of the 2012 Isle of Man. Enjoy.

Can't get tired of these. Thanks for posting...

After watching that, it kind of puts one in their place in the motorcycling world. That kind of talent is unreal.

Footage from the TT is both terrifying and compellingly interesting to watch. Track racing takes some big cojones, but honest-to-god racing on public roads - even with all the traffic removed - is a whole other level of commitment, given the likelihood of fatal impact with roadside objects should you lose control.

Jerry, that was an excellent compilation; thanks for sharing.

Speed is not dangerous. The stop is.

I have always wondered the logistics of keeping people and their pets/livestock/kids etc. off the track, especially in the heart of the town during the race. It amazes me how the spectators sit right on the track's edge obviously in harms way and if there is a crash they would be toast. As if going WFO in this setting isn't enough the fretting of a Irish Setter or sheep coming across the road is a horrendous thought. I know most sober adults would be aware but you have some people that have their head up their ass no matter where you go... I know there are multiple rider deaths every year but I wonder about spectator death statistics.

Great video.

This is the shot I never get tired of seeing: A couple enjoying their morning coffee in the tranquility of their modest front yard as motorbikes come screaming by at 150 mph.

The TT has to be the best race motorcycle race in the world. Too bad something similar could never happen in the US -- the lawyers and insurance companies would kill it before it got started.

What Joe said. I've worn out lots of motors and shredded more tires and brake pads on tracks than I could possibly count but no way I'd do it on a public road- it is an invitation to a shortened life for sure...

Wouldn't mind a race in my front yard at all though. Not stupid enough to sit on the curb in a potential impact zone..

well, that's the kind of racing I did about 60years ago, but with 40 hp bikes

Still plenty fast I'd wager.

Amazing how violent the ride is and a wonder they can see what is ahead.

They can't really see what is ahead, but they KNOW what is ahead - unless there is a surprise, which is always nasty.

What's the best place to fly into to get to the IOM? London?

Seems like it'd be a cool trip to make.

No, I have never been either, no doubt will eventually go in the next couple of years. Where I live is next to a port into Holland, so see plenty of bikers come through from Europe for a long ride to catch the Isle of Man ferry.

My mate Alex was a guest the other year to celebrate Honda's 50 years of racing and was featured on a mail postage stamp.

Hey FB, if I can talk Shawn into hosting another UN, can we borrow the BMWST GV to go the IOM?

I'm going next year! Beach's Motorcycle Adventures has put together a motorcycle tour that includes 5 or 6 days on the IOM watching the TT, with the balance of two weeks in England and Scotland. Gonna be awesome! Another Bucket List item crossed off when completed.

Not an advertisement for Beach's; no affiliation, but a satisfied customer.
