Bill Lumberg Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Started a few weeks ago. Get a flashing warning lamp and servo fade during hard braking with throttle closed. Sniffed around with a voltimeter, and replaced the battery. No issues riding, but if I let revs fall below 2K, especially if applying the servo-assisted braking, I'll get a brief flashing warning lamp, and sometimes a servo fade. If I sit at idle long enough, I'll get the symptoms regardless of whether the brakes are applied. Been riding this way weeks now. No problems with brakes, no problems with starting. Any idea what to check next?
dirtrider Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Afternoon Bill Difficult to tell what you have without more information. Could be low system voltage, or resistance in the servo power supply source, or one of the servo motors drawing too much current, or even a grounding issue, or ????? My first suggestion is to hook your voltmeter up to the battery (or a battery circuit) then ride with it hooked up. See if your system voltage is staying up when your servo fade is happening. Maybe visually look at the I-ABS controller connector for signs of overheating or oxidation/resistance issues. Can you tell if your ABS servo(s) are shutting down when the brake pedal & lever is released? Otherwise you might have to get GS-911 or dealer computer on the brake system to se what codes are stored.
Tobias Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Is this the same Bill Lumberg from "Office Space"? You wrote "If I sit at idle long enough, I'll get the symptoms regardless of whether the brakes are applied" That makes me wonder what your alternator is putting out. If you put a volt meter across your battery terminals what do you get when: Ignition off Idle at 1150 RPM Neutral at 2000 RPM Also, did the problem briefly go away when you installed the new battery?
