Ticketmaster a rip, or what?

40 minutes all told, I have (1) 54 dollar ticket, plus a 22 dollar service/postage/ handling fee and my ticket can't be shipped to any other address other than my CC acct. address....

For two dollars more I could have opted for email delivery of a ticket that could be printed out. :dopeslap:

I had to talk to an operator in Texas for an event two blocks from where I live in CA.

Man I love technology.

Someone give me an alternative so I don't have to reward these bastages.

Is there a box office at the venue? I've often found better seats with no handling charges by purchasing at the office, in advance of the event. Some also will let you reserve tickets by phone with a credit card, and pick up the tickets at the box office on arrival. If I absolutely have to go through Ticketmaster, I do not go at all.

Some venues/events don't have an option other than Ticketmaster. Grumble.

We have had to buy our Great American Beer Festival tickets from them for the last two years-and they botched the AHA presale this year in an ugly way. Luckily we got our tickets to the session we wanted, but others were not so lucky and are (rightfully) ticked off.

For any other event these days, I agree. If I have to deal with TM, I would rather not go. But I have been going to the GABF for 20+ years and really don't want to miss one. So I grit my teeth, pay ridiculous service charges, watch piles of tickets go to scalpers because of TM's crummy security, and hope that I get my tickets before the scalpers buy them out.

The fact that some tickets are solely available through Ticketmaster is sometimes often enough of a disincentive that I just won't go to an event. The normal fees are bad enough, but when they started charging for email delivery it totally frosted me.

Fortunately, I can often walk to the venues and pick up tickets at a box office.

Sad story is box office is open 4 hours a day in the summer. I work during these hours and 22 miles away, so taking time off means

losing $$$...No work no pay. Box office not an option.

GABF: I'd love to go!

Wait until you drive to the venue. Be prepared to fork over $30 just to park. Let's not forget to mention $12 colossal dogs and $18 beer.

No wonder the stadiums are empty.

At least the beer is included at the Great American Beer Festival. :>

We ride the bus down (as we are in no condition to drive once we leave the fest).
