azccj Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 For those who are like me and like to cruse Ebay looking for parts, there is now listed lots of parts from a 2003 R1150RT which reportedly only had 6202 miles on it when it was disassembled. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-BMW-R1150RT-R1150-RT-Gauge-Clock-Instrument-Cluster-/320960176992?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4abab7a360&vxp=mtr I bought the transmission and clutch assembly, and just received them today. I'd also like to say that the seller did an excellent job of packing the items so they wouldn't get damaged in transit. I'm confident that the transmission would have survived if it had been thrown out of an airplane at 10,000 feet. Anyway, the rear part of the transmission case is damaged, as was described by the seller, but the rest of the transmission looks to be in very good condition. The input splines look new with no sign of any wear and the clutch splines also look like new. It looks to me due to the damage to the trans case that the bike hit hard on its right side. Hard enough to break one of the transmission mounting points for the right foot plate and elongate another hole in the trans case for the same plate. Someday in the future I'll use the front part of this trans case and all its internals and install it in my 04 RT, which I discovered has begun to eat its transmission input shaft at just 36K miles. I'll also install most of the clutch parts I bought from the same bike as well, which included everything rear of the crankshaft. I paid just a little bit more for the transmission than what BMW wants just for a new input shaft. I paid about half of what BMW wants for a clutch disk for the whole clutch assembly. Both items included free shipping, as does everything else off this bike. I can't say for sure how many miles were actually on the bike, but from what I've seen regarding the transmission and clutch it appears to me that it couldn't of had to many miles on it when it was taken apart. Or it is possible that the bike had more miles on it than the speedo indicates and both the clutch and input shaft were recently replaced just before the bike got wrecked. I don't know. I have no relationship with the seller, just giving a heads up to those who might need something for their RT.
