Nashville TN questions

On my way from Torrey UT to Maggie Valley NC Nashville would be a good night stop. I am not that interested visiting the city. I'll be coming on I24 from the North and leaving on I40 to the East. Is the best way around the city on the beltway - Bailey Parkway? Is traffic a problem? Should I stop for the night early on I24 to avoid evening rush and leave early in the morning or go around in the afternoon and stop, leaving on I40 in the morning?

Thank you for suggestions.

Nashville can be a real hassle during rush hour, particularly 3:30-6:00PM so would recommend avoiding that. I usually go straight thru on I-24 directly to I-40 because Briley Parkway can become a parking lot at the slightest provocation. There are quite a few reasonably priced hotels on I-24 in the Clarksville area ~40 miles north of Nashville, more so than on I-40 East of Nashville. I normally use Kayak.com for selecting a hotel.

Paul, the traffic patterns depend significantly on day and time. Heading thru Nashville midday will let you cruise thru any day of the week. Briley Parkway is not a bad option when there's construction... And 24 to Ellington Parkway to Briley to 40 is a good detour option in general (I disagree with the earlier comment saying it turns into a parking lot... Generally that is only the case if there's an accident.)

If you need a place to stop over for the night, I do have a spare bedroom with a separate guest bath and would be happy to host you if you're interested in stopping here. I live a mere 2 miles from the Interstate where it takes you past the stadium and downtown!

PM me and I'll be glad to help with route plannng thru the area!

Paul, if you time it right maybe you can get that Rabbit on her bike, to lead you through in record time.

I'm making a request for photos of Old Fart with the doggies.

Great idea but I plan to get to Maggie Valley on Friday and Shannon probably gets there a day or two earlier.
