Michaelr11 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Pulled my front wheel for a new tire (5,600 miles on a PR3). The wheel bearings were replaced last year, about 10k miles ago. They look okay, but I reached in to turn the bearing on the left side (6204 bearing) and I can't turn it with my fingers. Is this a problem? Should I have this bearing replaced?
dirtrider Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Morning Michael Probably not a problem as you have been riding it for 10K without issues. Some are pretty tight after replacement. You might also be fighting the center spacer holding pressure on the center race. When you put the wheel back in give it a spin before installing the brake calipers. If it still doesn't feel right maybe address that bearing.
eddd Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 You definately should be able to turn it, easily. I assume your sticking your finger through the middle of the bearing and then trying to turn the bearing. You might also stick a finger through each bearing and try to spin the wheel. It should rotate on your fingers smoothly.
Michaelr11 Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 All seems okay. Wow, you've got stronger fingers than I do. I put on a glove and then when I stuck my finger into it I was able to turn the bearing.
