ElevenFifty Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 04 RT1150 I'm about to do the 2nd adjustment of the rocker arm end play. Did this around 70K now at 133K. Torque spec on the head nut involved is 20nm + 180(?) degrees. This will be the 4th time this nut has been torqued (factory, 600 miles, 70K). Should this nut/bolt be replaced? If "yes", does anyone know the part number(s)? I've poured over the fiche and can't seem to find it. Thanks DH
dirtrider Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Morning ElevenFifty If you are referring to the cylinder head stud nuts that is 20nm initial then 180° tighter from the 20nm initial (well oiled threads). (I don't know where you got the 270° from) In any case that is a very long stud so it can stretch over it's entire length therefore it doesn't stretch to yield like shorter bolts do. Lots of elasticity in long studs so they can take many torquings. Maybe put a new nut on as the threads in the nut will be the weak link. I wouldn't recommend messing with replacing the cylinder stud as it is real easy to damage the threads in the block removing one of those cylinder studs.
