My rear tyre pressure monitor does not work properly (2008 1200RT). Most times the display shows '--'

Sometimes it will only start displaying the tyre pressure from cold after hitting highway speeds.

Is there a battery that can be replaced or will it take more intense surgery to fix?

$140 battery,,You have to buy the sensor,Battery is sealed in it,,,Even if you replace it you self,You well need to go to the dealer to have them wake up the sensor ,,,If the back sensor is going,The front well be soon to fallow ,,,Option B,,,Take to dealer and have them hook up to their computer and take the function out of the BC ,,No more TPM , I have been riding bike for over 45 years with out it,,,,Won't miss it myself,,,Here is a picture of the sensor cut open,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, IMG_0553.jpg

Take them both out and replace the battery.

I do wholeheartedly believe that if you replace the battery, you do not, do not need to take it to the dealer to activate it on the computer.

My understanding is that is only necessary when you buy a new unit, the $140, new, whole entire unit, with the battery sealed into it, that you must then have the dealer coordinate the new unit with your computer on your bike.

Mine was doing that and when I had it in the dealer's getting new shoes I asked them to check it. Turns out that the unit was a little loose. They tightened it up and it's been fine since.
