lawnchairboy Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 On thursday, after the Big-T goat path ride. It was time for dinner and some socializing in the parking lot: "I think that all the new KTM wiring harnesses should be made out of metal from crushed 1200RT transmission u joints..." Dennis and sockmonkey: Az Al assisting in changing a leaky valve stem, with no shortage of "help". Sadly, Friday morning came, and I punched out a o dark thirty headed for the east coast, got some crappy iPhone pics going down CO 69 in the morning, a beautiful road if you ever have the chance, although on 50 and 69 that morning, FULL of critters, including elk, came really really close to one on 50 prior to the turnoff for 69: Got to see Shannie Mae and rosemond again on Saturday on the way back east. The snuggie vault was powered up and prepared, cold drinks and chanting ensued, and the snuggie was placed carefully back into the state of the art snuggie vault, until the next trip. It was a great trip for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing you all once again. I love Colorado. The end.
KTM Doug Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Loved your pics! Brought back so many memories of all the times friends and I rode all those passes. Wish the back would let me do it again. I know I could still ride the bike. Now, you need to come back and do Black Bear. It really is not that intimadating. Only the stair steps by the creek and falls can be challenging. There's always the old Bull Dog maneuver. Of course, friends along would be a pre-requisite as far as I'm concerned. Then there's the time we went UP Black Bear. Sheriff didn't think it was funny! However I showed him a legitimate trail map that showed it as a 2- way. After that, he got friendlier. The swichbacks are probably no worse than some of the stuff up Engineer and Imogene. Seeing your pics, I need to scan all my photos so I can share them easier or at least get them on my ipad. Looks like you had a great adventure . I envy you and others that can still ride the trails. I miss the dirt stuff more than anything.
Paul Mihalka Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Wow, Chris! Great ride tale and super pictures. Looking at the pictures is as close as I want to get to your kind of dirt riding!

Bill_Walker Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Thanks for these posts, Chris. It was almost like being there (except without the pain of falling down).

Kathy R Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Maybe next time they will let me attend the whole Unthing Fernando never realized his portions got smaller and smaller as we handed off spoonfuls to folks who'd not signed up for the ice cream or food in time to notify the vendor.
