lawnchairboy Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 looking down to teluride: looking back up at the pass: It is difficult to appreciate how steep these areas are until you are on them, or, like me, when the back brake you have been riding for the last 2000 feet in elevation drop gets a bit tired and goes away on a section like this: or this: After 20 minutes or so, it felt like I had some rear brake back and I kept on heading down to teluride. there are several old mining sites up there with the associated wreckage strewn about: On the way down to teluride, Black bear pass is visible: I had no interest in this one, I am not that brave. gradually, I came down into teluride and eventually took the roads back around to ridgway, feeling pretty content. that is a beautiful ride if you ever have the opportunity, the stock DR with stock carb took me up and over with a minimum of protest except near the very top where it got a bit tired. Coming down to teluride: had a nice lunch at a pizza joint in that town and rewarded myself : more to follow, next episode.... over to Salida on saturday prior to the UN..
OoPEZoO Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I wish I could have made that trip up from Lake City that we were talking about with Tewks, but after I got home and started looking at my mileage from this trip.......I think its a good thing I didn't. I was on the road for 7.5 days and didn't ride on Thursday. My final mileage was right at 4200. Thats averaging 560 miles per day for the trip and I took a day off. It caught up to me yesterday and today. Besides, now I have a good excuse to plan another trip.........with a smaller bike.......in the back of a pickup truck until I get there. Great pics Chris
