lawnchairboy Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 I was very fortunate to take advantage of some rare mid-summer leave, which is usually not a possibility for me due to work timing. It started in Nashville seeing sister Shannie Mae and rosemond, hope I spelled it right. Then, at precisely midnight, in a rarely witnessed and deeply reverent ceremony involving cold drinks and some chanting with an ancient Buddhist monk from East Nashville, the tamper proof seal on the humidity and temperature controlled snuggie vault was breached with the utmost care and respect. Can you feel its power? My ears popped when the snuggie vault was opened. Then, there was alot of driving. I brought the GS, my DR and a mountain bike out in the trailer. wouldn't you know it? right out the back door of the hotel (ridgway hotel and suites in ridgway, co) is CO 12. A nice little dirt road which leads to CO 10 which leads to CO 8 which goes up to Owl creek pass and is a pretty sedate dual sport ride as they go. Also very nice for the mountain biking. CO 8 runs to Silver Jack resevoir and then cimmaron road hooks up with HWY 50 between Gunnison and Montrose. Spectacular area, the whole place. snuggie checks out the view looking towards the peaks around the million dollar highway to the south of ridgway: caught a balloon over ridgway: the snuggie on the first of many passes to come color editing on this one went haywire, but near silverjack res: up towards the hwy 50 end of cimarron rd: more to follow.........
hopz Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Great series of posts and photos... I think you win the prize for the greatest adventure and bravery. Certainly more then I have. Congratulations. Thanks also for the trailer shot... that explains how a DRZ turns into a GS along the way... Thanks again.
