1100rtdude Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Hi everyone, I'm new here, just bought a 2000 R1100RT with 15k miles and she's a beauty. Just wandering if there is any easy way to remove the battery to replace without taking off the side panel? Thanks for your help.
1100rtdude Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 Thanks. The owners manual says to remove the air filter housing, but that doesn't make sense. Appreciate your help!!
David R Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Air filter snorkel is in the way. Battery comes out the left after you unhook the rubber strap. You only have to take the top off the air cleaner. I bought the better battery. Access is terrible just to jump it. David

MY 1100RT is a '99 and I bought the battery at BatteryMart... it cost about $67.00 two years ago... it hasn't let me down yet... The final drive on the other hand, burned me two weeks ago... hope to have it repaired this week...
