Effjay Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 For most of you that have no reason to frequent the Pelican R1100S/R1200S Tech Forum, I'm posting a link to a road trip of worthy proportions. Maybe just view with amazement and post comments there rather than here (don't think either rider are forum members here). This is really too good not to share with BMWST folks... Croatia to Iran and back
Guest Kakugo Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 These chaps really have some balls... Roads in Turkey are bloody dangerous (once you cross the Bosphorus building and maintenance standards radically change... and the local police are really little more than highwaymen in uniform), the Iranian government is so paranoid it will do everything in its power to keep friendly foreigners away, traffic rules may vary according to region and sunstroke is always a present danger. However the people are simply fantastic. Everything you read in those posts... it's true. The Turks are proud, friendly and deeply honest. They will literally go out a limb to help you out. Persians are amazing: most of the people there are under 30 and literally starving for contact with the outside world. You may not speak a word of Persian but you will always find some deeply intelligent, well educated youth speaking at least one foreign language that will help you out. In a better world it's one trip worth taking (on a GS-Adventure ).
