While I'm in There

Hi Folks, Saturday is the big day with both a clutch replacement (including new slave cylinder) and spline lube. So while I'm in there, is there anything else that should be replaced? Manual recommends new bolts for housing and cover. Is this really necessary? Any seals I should be replacing? Thanks and I will keep you posted.

While in there look for leaks such as front trans seal or engine rear main.

On replacing the bolts?--Definitely replace the bolts the manual recommends as most of those are torque-to-yield (basically stretched past returnability) so those really shouldn't be used twice.

Good afternoon DR, Re seals: Would your change either of these seals anyway or only if they are leaking?

Do the bolts actually stretch? At only 14 NM torque I wouldn't think the bolts would stretch. I did notice the the backside of the heads are serrated/grooved and maybe that's why they are required to be replaced. The next time I'm doing the spline lube, I'll buy one of those bolts, measure it prior to torquing the bolt, then measure it again after applying 14 NM of torque and see if it has actually stretched.

Afternoon azccj

The housing to crankshaft are 40nm +32° (those do stretch). The housing cover to flywheel are 12nm (those probably don't stretch)

FWIW, I didnt replace any seals, there was NO indication of leaking or seeping so I let-it-be.

However I was doing spline lube only and didnt remove the FW or disk that has about 50k on it.

I did replace the main shaft seal (@ slave cyl.

I would clean and lube paralever bearings.

Yes. The starter, do the squeaky starter fix, takes mere minutes. Just guessing you're doing all the splines/drive shaft too.

Also guessing youll use the trans alignment tools . BIG help!

Not sure what bike you have, but if it's an 1100, I would automatically replace the neutral switch.
