bruce1045 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I have a 2004 r1150 rt the stock plugs according to my Clymer is 14MM NGK BKR7EKC 12MM NGK DCPR8EKC I think these are single prong plugs? The ones on my bike are dual prong plugs, sorry forgot the numbers. Does this bike take single or dual prong plugs? I am not looking for a more performance, just want to get some new plugs in, as one of the Bosch plugs have a crack on the porcalain. Sorry if these has been covered before. At least the topic is not about oil
David R Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I don't know which your bike calls for but if its the right heat range and size, it will work. David
Tobias Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 There are lots of plugs that work. Here is a set: http://www.beemerboneyard.com/12127681415s.html
waynerd Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Yep, lots of plugs that will work - single ground, dual ground, skinny electrode. I even recall a portion of a recent thread that extolled the virtues of a single ground over a dual ground...more exposed spark (I think was the argument). The NGK's will be fine. Want more confusion? Take a gander at the repair parts archive at the top of the Oilheads forum. You could likely change brand/part number every time you swap plugs and never use same one twice (small exaggeration). I just finished my 36K service and was very pleased with the way the old plugs looked - even the bottom ones which were all gunked up the very first time I serviced the bike. If you care, I've been using the Autolite equivalents (top & bottom) 'cause they're readily available for a decent price: Top: Autolite 3923 (or equivalent variants - AP3923 (single platinum), APP3923 (double platinum)) - I can get 'em at Walmart Bottom: Autolite 4164 (standard copper ones available at auto parts stores) **CAVEAT** these plugs require an 11/16" socket which won't fit into the recess in the head without grinding down the OD of the socket to about .840" - leaves you with a thin wall, but it works. I gap 'em all to .037" (no measureable increase in the gap of the old plugs). Great results so far.
bruce1045 Posted July 26, 2012 Author Posted July 26, 2012 thank you all for the answers, I see the light now,
RPG Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Wayne, thanks for the Autolite numbers. Need to do a tuneup on my RT. RPG
