I'm looking for a good diagram of the R1150RT Integral ABS system. I have the Clymer manual and also the BMW Service Manuals. They explain how to work on the system and perform maintenance but I haven't seen a good explanation of how they work.

I'm looking around the web and have found some documents in German, which I don't speak ;). And have this diagram which I came across but can't tell if it's for the 04RT. If anyone can point me to a good web site, link or document I would appreciate it.

Morning Roger

Your picture here shows the partial liked I-ABS system not the fully linked system.

Also remember that your later (re 04) I-ABS system has the later rear linking that shuts the rear pump down at standstill & under a rear pressure threshold.

I have some documentation on the internals of the BMW I-ABS system on my shop computer. I will have to look to see what I have & what I can release. Some of the documentation I have comes from an engineering source that required me to promise not to duplicate or release to anyone else (I fully intend to honor that request).

Afternoon Ced

Unfortunately that link is for the newer I-ABS GENII system not the I-ABS that Roger is looking for.

As far as EVO brakes?--that more applies to the calipers and rotors, and really has nothing to do with controller, servo's or sensors. EVO calipers & rotors supposedly have more stopping power than the older Brembo parts did (at least according to BMW hype!)

Evening Dirtrider,

Thanks for that info - I could never figure out what was meant by the EVO brakes - nice explanation.

Thanks for the tips guys.

It looks like the only part of the R1150RT more secret than the Motronic, is the ABS system. ;)
