Jose and I thought we might ride the beach canyons this Friday. 9:00am is a tentative starting time. Meeting place to be determined, but I would anticipate somewhere in Brentwood or SM. Weather should be in low 70's. Anyone else wanna come along? Any roads we shouldn't miss?

Ok the meet up is at the 76 station at 13060 San Vicente Blvd. The cross street is 26th St. 9am.

Hi,

New to the list but live in the area and need to take my 2011 R1200RT out for some air. Don't want to slow folks up but can tag at the back.

I usually ride out PCH to Topanga and over to Old Topanga.

Looking forward to meeting you.

edit: Oh I've been told there is a coffee place near the 76, for those of you who need a jolt, or whipped cream, or foo foo.

It is good. Nice to miss a ride once in a while because the company has contracts to fulfill. I am out this time also. I have work. I know,I know. It's been awhile. You all have fun and for Mr. Duck to say behave yourselves is, well, weird. (No saint like a reformed sinner).

Yes, me :D

Will work let me?

No

Any roads we shouldn't miss?

Any & ALL!!!

Tuna Canyon via Fernwood Pacific Dr.

Turn left at the fir station on Topanga.

Then right back on PCH to Los Flores.

Up to the Stunt over look.

Down Stunt to the Hiway.

Back up Piuma then one more run down Tuna just because you can.

Back to PCH and up Latigo.

Right on Kanan briefly & a right on the Hiway to use the potties at the park less the 1/8 mile to the West (North side).

180* on the Hiway & zip down to the Rockstore.

Turn around & blast back up to the snake (no bites please).

Continue West to Little Sycamore which becomes Yorba Buena.

Right on Cotharin Rd.

Stay straight to Pacific View Rd.

Then stay straight to Deer Creek Rd.

If you can swing it, also include Potrero Rd, & Westlake.

Wish I could join in :P

You all have fun!!!

I don't think I've seen this many curves in one day before. Maybe at Joe's, maybe. Thanks to Jose, Jeff and Don for coming out. Out at 8:30, in at 4:30. About 250mi. Canyons traveled: Topanga, Old Topanga, Tuna (twice), Las Flores (twice), Stunt, Mulholland Hiway, Latigo, Kanan Dume, Malibu, Piuma, Decker, Little Sycamore, Deer Creek. Lunch was at Rustic Canyon General Store & Grill. Big Portions. Jeff raved about the grilled chicken salad.

I have to say that Tuna tops 229. Similar roads, but Tuna has one big advantage: Much of it is ONE WAY!¡!¡!:rofl::thumbsup::grin:

Thanks Eric for hooking us up!!!

For those interested the route went like this as far as I remember: PCH>Topanga>Fernwood Pacific>Tuna>Pch>Las Flores>Rambla Pacifico>Schueren>Stunt>Mhiway>OldTopanga>Fernwood>Tuna>Pch>Latigo>Kanan>Mhiway>Rustic CynGen store and grill>Mhiway+snake>Little Sycamore>Yorba Buena>Cotharin>Pacific View>DeerCreek>Pch>Mhiwy>Decker>Pch>Malibu>Piuma>Las Flores>Pch.

Thanks John, for hosting and taking the lead today! Yes, a very fun ride with plenty of twisties and ample opps to freshen those 'chicken strips' (no, not the ones in my tasty lunch salad).

Perfect summer weather yet again in coastal SoCal (insert CofC plug here) as the fog bank retreated offshore, yet provided cool onshore breezes...

Hey it was my pleasure. It was interesting riding in and out of the fog as we ascended and descended from the foothills. About the only time I got a little over heated was at the pottie break in the park, standing in the sun. We'll have to do this again. Oh, after you pealed off for home, Jose and I did a couple of jaunts up Mulholland Hiway and down Decker, the up Malibu and down Piuma  before heading for home.

I don't think I've seen this many curves in one day before. ......

Sooo how many tires were harmed in the making of this ride??

Latigo is what, all of 10 miles or so & only one mile of that is straight

Tuna is one of those roads debatably handed better cross control.

250 miles on these roads is a lot.

Heck, Saturday evening I was only able to get in 25 ( on the peddel bike :) ).

Glad you had a good time.

Not sure what you mean by your Tuna comment.

I was giggling to myself the whole way down Tuna.

I think the mileage was correct, not positively though.

Litttle Sycamore was a little disappointing as it is very old asphalt, with some parallel ruts, but it was only a small part of the day.

Thanks again.

Cross Control/Counter wieghting is better than Ride Smart...

Yep :)

I'll bet some of that was getting to/from.

On those roads, a little goes a long way.

You will find that the roads in Ventura county are not as well maintained as those in L.A. county.
