Bruce (Bedford)
Battery isn't holding charge - not unexpected as it is the battery that came with the bike & it stands over winter. It has had the trickle charger on for the last 4 weeks and although it always starts there is not enough charge for the ABS (lights flash) and there is the sneaking doubt that one time soon... BTW I thought that the starting procedure cut the lights out if they’re on - or is that just my imagination, over the last few days it struggled with the lights turned on. (I always ride with dipped head light & just don't bother to switch it off!) So - question to you Brits - what battery? Any to avoid or anyone know of grrrreaaat deals? The few rides between the rain, rain, rain have been wonderful - oh my! Bruce Link to comment

Afternoon Bruce Yes, the headlight is supposed to cut out during ACTUAL ENGINE CRANKING. It will remain on with just the key turned on though. Link to comment
Boffin
Well, there is the standard motorcycle battery - I buy from Tayna : Link to Tayna Or, you could go the computer UPS battery route with this AGM battery, though the savings are not as good as they used to be. I used one of these for three years and replaced it last winter with a Westco from Tayna. Andy Link to comment
Bruce (Bedford)
Thanks DR I'll have to check it out, certainly with the lighs switched on it really pulls the remaining battery down, but with the lights off its not so bad - batt certainly needs changing not charging. I'm modistly pleased that a new battery is not comming in as expensive as I was expecting - Thanks Andy for your help. The local 'bike' shop can get one for about £45 too but they are 'small bike' specialists and when I turn up on an 1100cc m/c they become vaugue & distant!!! Bless them. Bruce Link to comment
