Maintenance/Repair Manual

I am planning to pick up a new R1200RT after the New Year and do as much as possible on my own as far as maintenance goes. I’ve been riding motorcycles since I was nine but never had a BMW. I did a lot of maintenance on my previous bikes and consider myself mechanically able. For those of you, who perform your own maintenance on R1200RTs (valve adjustment, brakes etc…) can someone recommend a good manual that is written in the way that is easy to understand with good picture illustrations?

 

My dealer told me that at all scheduled maintenance intervals, not only the valve adjustment is being checked but also synchronization of the fuel distribution and something else (can’t remember what). In your experience, were your synchronizations ever out of spec?
