A Free weekend in Munich, what, where etc. ???

Well, it just might happen that I get to spend couple of weeks in Munich for my new job. A quick glance at the map shows that Munich is right at the bottom of the Alps and another quick Google search comes back with long list of motorcycle rental companies. Hmmm....

Has anyone any experience in renting a bike over there? Good companies, bad ones?

Assuming I get a bike for a weekend (Sat + Sun only) any route suggestions or not to be missed destinations?

No bike/route recommendations, but don't miss the Deutsches Museum. It's a museum of technology, and it's fascination. I spent a whole day there and had to leave when they closed and still hadn't seen everything to my satisfaction.

Beachs, Admo and other tour operators offer reliable rental units, but in the busy season it might be hard to get one.

Thor,

Thanks for the links, lot of good info there.

What's so striking is how close everything is there, especially compared to the West.

I could leave from Munich early Saturday morning an eat lunch in Venice! Well, riding over the Alps is likely just LITTLE slower than crossing Nevada

But anyhow, I'm really looking for suggestions for a weekend routes / destinations over the Alps. Two days on a rental bike doing the passes and enjoying local food in between could be quite heavenly :)

Missed your second post. That looks great, thanks!

Two days isn't much time. However, If it were me i'd go to St. Mortiz for the first day (344 km 6 hrs). Then over the Passo Stelvio and back to Munich on the second day (477 km 8 hr). I've got some map images (which I don't know how to post here). PM me your eMail and I'll send them to you.
