Pilgrim
OK, it's been about six weeks since I took the top fairing off my R1100RT to fix the windshield elevator. Memory of the aged being what it is and all, some of the stuff looks pretty strange when it comes to reassembly after more than two days, or so. Most particularly, I have three yellow (sort of) metal bushings that go through rubber collars that are in ears on the fairing frame. And there are three studs in the fairing that apparently go through the collars. If I'm right so far about what goes where, shouldn't there be three nuts and washers to go on the studs to hold the the parts together? If so, I've misplaced the nuts, something I almost never do with parts, but . . . If there aren't supposed to be any, then I'm really confused. Pilgrim Link to comment
BUSTED
No Nuts! The studs just ride in the bushings. Link to comment

BUSTED
They are quite a sight when undressed! Pic attached Link to comment
Kitsap
They are quite ugly naked. I just spent 45 minutes undressing the gal to the same extent just to change out the clutch lever switch. I think the BMW engineers sat around over ales thinking how to make maintenance a b*tch. If I didn't like riding her so much I'd sell her. Will CANBUS take care of this? Link to comment

No. The CANBUS bikes are just as ugly naked! Link to comment
