Mighty Manfred
I crashed my airhead many months ago and that when it started. Hard to start and periodic rough running under light load in 3,200 - 4,000 RPM. Mucho carburetor work and new soft parts made it better but not good. FINALLY put a new coil in the old girl (this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OMQJF8/ref=oh_o05_s00_i00_details ) and all I can do is smile really big. Starts nearly immediately and runs smoooooooooooth in all conditions and gets 20 or so more miles per tank. I kept the 2 year old NGK spark plug wires & caps. Link to comment
lkchris
Yes, coils of that generation will fail even without wrecking the bike. Link to comment
Mighty Manfred
Yes, the difficulty for me was determining the source of my starting and running problems. Old parts in all the systems of this old airhead. Link to comment
