Can I use this document as a guide to R/R by 2004 150 RT-P

DonW has sent me many nice links. (Thanks Don!). One of the links produced this document.

http://www.ibmwr.org/r-tech/oilheads/R11Manual/Oilhead_Maintenance_2-25-02.pdf

I have been checking my bike out a little each night, to get a feel of what I need to do mechanically. I want a plan. The document above seems like just what the doctor ordered not only as a guide to check the bike out, but also R/R if need be.

The problem I see is the date of the article was prior to my bikes production. I'm sure some of the procedures are the same, but I'm a noob and would not know any difference.

Can I use this document for a 2004 1150RTP?

Is there a document like this anywhere for 1150RT etc..?

Here are some of the things that I have found so far:

Slight oil weep from left side plug hole (probably donut gasket)

Slow to warm up and rough idle. (TB SYNC)

Very jerky acceleration when shifting gears. (This may be me) or the torque is incredible.

ABS brake failure light blinks for a while, then goes out. Bike has brakes with or without light blinking.

While in Neutral with clutch disengaged, you can tell clutch does not seem to disengage fully.(Adjustment? Clutch R/R.

Thanks

Charles

That is what I use for my 2004 R1150RT. The clutch is different, and the brake bleed needs a completely different procedure (take a look in our M/C FAQ) but the throttle balance, valve clearances etc are all the same as the 110.

Can you clarify what you mean by "side plug hole"? Do you mean the oil sight glass? Or, perhaps the oil filler cap?

If the former, I think the general wisdom is to replace it at the slightest hint of oily residue around the sight glass — if it blows out while you are on the road, you are in a heap of trouble.

For the latter, try replacing the O-ring with a fresh one, and if possible clean both the O-ring and the seat with rubbing alcohol every time you remove the cap to add oil. Like the valve cover gaskets, if these surfaces are kept squeaky clean, they shouldn't leak.

How to explain?. The the black plastic cover on each valve cover has what I think is a plug wire. When I removed it there was some oil weeping from this space. very small amount. I though maybe a plug was not seated. I then read about the gasket that is sometimes difficult to align. I'll see if I can figure out how to post a pic in this forum.

Thanks
