RAMBLIN RED
All of this talk about spline maintenance has got me worried I don't know if I should start a new topic or not, but I'm sure you will let me know. My 96 r11rt makes a strange noise when I release the clutch in first gear. As the bike starts to move I hear "ka-chink..ka-chink". no noise in neutral with the clutch released and if it makes the noise in other gear changes I can't hear it. The maintenance records have a gaping hole from 18000 miles to 54000 miles, when I purchased the bike. She now has 66800 miles. The noise is no better or no worse. The previous owner said all service was performed correctly, he was just a sloppy record keeper. So....should I worry? Link to comment
Jerry Johnston
It's your ABS that's making that noise and is perfectly normal. If you don't hear it you'll have some flashing lights on your dash to tell you the ABS didn't kick in. Link to comment

Danny caddyshack Noonan
It probably only makes that noise on the first roll-off and after not having done it for 5 or 10 minutes the next time you roll-off from less than a couple miles per hour or a stop. Link to comment
