Kathy R
I LOVE COLORADO! I will never forget riding in for UN I to Gunnison. There is something so magical about Colorado. My very first motorcycle trip was on my Sportster to Canon City, CO for a woman's motorcycle conference. As I rode out Hwy 50, and saw the mountains for the first time in my life, I had to pull over and cry. They moved me so. The trip on the Sportster was amazing and memorable, but it was nothing like what I found in Gunnison. The gathering of the people from this board was a bonus I never imagined. Lifelong friendships were formed. I am looking forward to hugging old and new friends. I'm so excited! Link to comment
Mrs. Caddis
We will be there all week. Looking forward to seeing everyone, having some great rides and getting some fishing in on the Arkansas. Link to comment
Burt
We used to go skiing in the Dillon area every year for spring break when our kids were younger and living at home. I always wanted to go out there during the summer. I'm really looking forward to this trip. I'm hoping to go up to our Upper Peninsula and take US-2 over to Montana, and then down to Colorado. Kathy R
Kathy, as I recall you were putting a whuppin' on a 1000 mile day at the same time! As I recall, the remnants of a cold, a 1/2 can of a power drink and 113 degrees in Nebraska almost undid me ( I chose the emoticon that most closely resembled my skin color at the time ) Those were some FUN times, Mr. Roe. Thanks for escorting our little entourage into the wilds of Colorado before dawn. I will never forget your wheelie somewhere along I 76 Link to comment

FlyingFinn
IN & Registered. Just thinking out loud here… Fact 1. The official Rally days are Tuesday – Thursday and that could leave couple of days on each side of the Rally if one takes that whole weak off. Fact 2. Colorado and the areas close to Salida have some amazing off-road routes & trails. => I’m just starting the planning here so everything is totally open at this point but I might explore some of the passes in the area between Aspen and Crested Butte on my way to Salida. => And maybe do a day or two more of dirt riding around the Ouray area on the way out. I need to do much more planning but I’ll just throw this seed out there in case it takes root and turns into something real. Anyone wants to join, give suggestions, or simply tell me not to do it, I want to hear it all. -- Mikko Link to comment
lawnchairboy
unless gas is 17$ a gallon, I will be in Ridgeway starting 17 JULY. Plan on riding whole area, will only have my DR out there though. Link to comment
JustJean
David and I will be there probably from Sunday to Friday, I'm sure he will be up for an off road adventure sometime during the week for sure? Depending on Lawnchair boy, I think I will get to ride shotgun for the off road adventure part. Will be on my own bike for the paved stuff! Link to comment
scout6
Susan and I will be headed there from the MOA. Using the Butler Map and a Colorado Rides book to really plan. Took Susan up Phantom Canyon back in the early 80's by Jeep. Really beautiful dirt road. Link to comment

Bullett
We visited Valley View Hot Springs once in the late 70's early '80's. There were some creepy folks there. Might be a different scene these days. Link to comment

JustJean
Mine had a dead battery once. I rode it every day for a week and then when the weekend came the battery was dead. BUT at least it happened in the driveway and not 234 miles away at the destination I was headed for........ Things are good now and ready for the trip to Colorado!! EffBee
For anyone who's interested, I'm slabbing from Olympia to SLC, then taking twisties in to Torrey. I'll be spending the night and then taking a magnificent route from Torrey to Salida, including a fantastic detour down through Lake City and Creede, CO, where I'll ride for 120 miles and only make about 25 miles of forward progress. I don't have exact departure days, but I will likely leave at O-dark on Friday, 7/20, spend that night in Twin Falls, and Saturday evening in Torrey (breathtaking sunset and BAKED spaghetti at The Patio). Sunday I'll be riding to Montrose, CO. Monday I'm spending the day in Montrose on business, before leaving around 2PM for Salida, my delicious detour, and a 5PM arrival. The Un organizers tell me that's just about the time they expect to have the beer properly chilled. I wouldn't mind company capable of 500-to-700-mile days. Room sharing a possibility. markgoodrich
I'm not excited. I've never been to an Un. What if it's hot on the way there from Austin (imagine such a thing!)? What if I can't find the hotel? What if the final drive/fuel pump/headlights/ad nauseum goes out? What if I go for a ride with SomeUns and can't keep up? Will my rear tire square off on the way? What if it's hot? I hate when it's hot. What if it's hot? Do you think it will be hot between Austin and Salida? I'll be the guy with a sign saying "Hi, I'm markgoodrich. Don't take this personally: I CRS, Please say your name." Hmm. Maybe I am excited a little. No, girls, I dunno yet is Suzanne is coming. Link to comment
