mrduck
There's been some discussion about taking the long way back after the Wickenburg weekend, and would like some info on road conditions... 191 from Clifton up through Alpine to Springerville... then 260 over through Show Low to Payson. Looks like a good ride, is any of this closed this time of year? Thanks Don J Link to comment
johnlt
191 runs along a ridge above 9K feet so even if it is open now, you'd need to check just a couple days before you try it. Link to comment
PhillyFlash
I would even check on the day you'd like to ride over it. The road might be fine, but the elevation is high, it gets really cold, and snow could come in any time. It's a challenging road at any time of the year, but during the winter it may be pretty cold, and there could be sand, gravel, rocks, snow, and/or ice around any curve. If the weather has been good, it may not be a problems, but I'd still take it at a fairly conservative pace. Link to comment
LBump
Don, That's a long way home for sure. Are you planning on a two day return trip? Link to comment
Johnny Jetson
I think they're having a pretty good snow year, so even if clear, it will probably have a lot of wet patches, and possibly some ice patches early in the day. Link to comment

Don J Even if 191 is closed, they can detour into NM and still end up in Alpine, which is what I did a couple of March's ago. Link to comment
