swilson
I couldn't find this on a search, so I created a new thread so I know others can find this info. Luckily I remembered enough of the previous thread I was able to do the job by memory. If you get the DWA on your display next to a battery symbol, its telling you the batteries in your alarm system (if your bike has that option) need replacing. It only takes 15 minutes. Tools/Supplies: 2 - CR123A lithium batteries (common in cameras and tactical flashlights) 1 - Phillips screwdriver size-1 1 - Torxs size T20 Start by removing your rear seat and then emptying anything you have stuffed into the tail section of your bike... everything to the rear of the latch that holds the rear seat down. Peek back in there and you'll see a black box... that's the alarm module. Disconnect the wiring connector from the box. Use the T20 to remove the one screw holding down the side of the box you can see, and then pull the box towards you and out of the bike. Remove the 4 phillips screws holding the module together and carefully pull the halves apart, careful not to yank the wires inside apart. Remove the 2 phillips screws holding the battery cover in place. Replacing the 2 CR123A batteries is the same as changing good ol' AA batteries. Now put everything back the way you found it. It may help to loosen the two T20 screws that hold down the back side of the alarm module and then tighten them once you've gotten the module to slide back into position. Now smile, because once again you didn't pay the dealer's service department huge amounts of money. Link to comment
dirtrider
Afternoon Scott There is some DWA information in the archives here, some complete with battrey replace how-to pictures. Just put "dwa warning" in the search box. Be sure to include the quotes on each end of dwa warning. Link to comment
