wheelworker
Hi, as this is such a useful forum (Although I do worry about some of the questions and answers, as by reading them I am expecting so much trouble to occur with my bike, or it to implode in the near future, that I am now bald and suffering from sleepless nights) But, on a more positive note can anyone advise me on easy removal of the right hand side footrest mounting plate (Metal) so that I can fit this piece of nice new, sparkley, blingey shiney kit http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170737869787 I have tried before, without pulling the plastic, by just removing all the visible bolts without success. The main problem was that without complete removal of the plate, there is not enough room to withdraw the top bolt on the torque arm. Thank you in advance Link to comment
AndyS
Here is the method attached. When installing the bolts, do not overtighten them. Some of the threads on the captive nuts are easy to strip. Also when installing the large bolt, ensure the hole is lined up perfectly before inserting. If the bolt is stiff, do not continue to screw it in - or you will screw it up. Remove it, realign the hole and try again. A good method for getting this bolt in, is to put the bike on its side stand and either increase or decrease the side loading on the bike. The subframe will move into alignment as you look through the mounting hole of the footrest plate. Andy Link to comment
