January?? Really?

I rode my bike to work Friday and again today. Probably tomorrow and Wednesday too! Yesterday I put 50 miles on her. This is JANUARY!! And I live just outside of Chicago. There should be a foot of snow on the ground and temps. should be single digits. Sunny and 40°?? Unbelievable

I live down the road from you - Indiana, same thing going on here. Love it, but my fear is 18" of snow, 45 mph winds and 18 degrees on May 21 through June 13! Hang in there Gerbings Corporate, demand will increase.

It's all over the place on the East Coast of Australia as well. We have SNOW in the mountains today and this is the second month of summer. It hasn't got over 25° Celcius all year where we are and it would normally be in the 30's with high humidity. I'm still riding early morning in a lined First Gear TPG jacket and would normally be in a perforated leather suit. This is seriously weird.

I'm glad that you guys are still riding. More power to you.

Lucky you... we are freezing here, though there's no snow/rain in the forecast for at least another week.

Saw tons of ice at the side of the road last week... thankfully they have applied tons of salt.

One would think sales would be down. And logic would support that. But the reality is that Gerbing's sales have increased more than 105% over the past three years, and in an absolutely miserable economy.

Increased ridership is part of it (people riding deeper into the season to save on gas). Low but moderate temps are also a part of it (at least this year). We don't sell as much when it's single digits as we do when it's down to just the 30's or 40's, simply because sub-freezing temps can play havoc with road conditions and safety. And the word is spreading about many of our advancements (can't enumerate them without this becoming commercial, so I won't).

I understand that while their growth is nowhere near ours, other heated clothing companies are seeing positive blips, too. So overall demand is definitely up. I believe there is simply a growing awareness among motorcyclists of what heated clothing can do for your riding enjoyment.

Here in WA, it's been a lot drier than usual. Average rainfall for the past two months is about half of normal. And while daytime highs are up a little, nighttime lows are up a lot. Only seen about a dozen sub-32 mornings, and usually it averages about 28-30 degrees on the bank's time/temp sign on my drive to work. We're scheduled for sun and low 40's for the next 4 days. Of course, it's going to happen during the week, when I'm working. Then it rains again. You know what they say. . .

What do you call the third straight day of rain in Washington?

Monday.

There is hardly any snow here. Temperatures have been around freezing +/- 5 degrees. The lake near us is not frozen, a new record was set on Jan 8th.

What's going on with this weather?

I think I have an idea what is going on. The past 2 winters were killer here in the midwest. My back can't handle all the snow removal, so I bought a snow blower. I bought one big enough to do mine and the few neighbors in the cul-de-sac. So what do we have, no snow. I just have to start it once a month to keep it ready. So there it is, and you are all welcome. Now get out and ride before our luck runs out.

Welcome to my world friends. Temps are going into the -numbers tonight with a -30 windchill. We'll struggle to get up to +8 tomorrow. Sorry, but we had to send some of it your way. Ridings over for a while. :(

Last Wednesday evening I rode about 50 miles in 42F to "charge the battery". Love the liner in my Intake II and my Sedici gauntlets, no grip heat needed.

The windows are open right now, 72F.

The genius long range weather forecast was for a winter like last with plenty of precipitation here in the PNW because of a lingering La Nina in the Pacific which means cold ocean waters. So much for the La Nina affect as there has been a strong Pacific High pressure cell which began building in early November. Typically the Pacific High is very long lasting when it gets entrenched early. This forces most weather systems way up (north) over the Pacific high which produces heavy weather in Alaska and northern Canada which is exactly what we see.

The geniuses with NOAA have an explanation, of course, and that is the "wild card" which is named the Antarctic Oscillation, whatever that is. As long as the Pacific high stays put we will have what we have, MOS.

Long and short is these guys (forecasters) haven't got a clue. That is not to say that the planet is not warming up as global warming is a separate issue.

Hey, is that the new Honda Bar-B-Q 750? Nice looking....like the side rail!

Heated grips and speedo goes from 0-650° in about 10 minutes! Never runs out of gas as long as the hose is attached.

No winter here, clear blue sky, 34F, dry and dusty. We have 3 months of winter left still but we really need some snow or we won't have any water this summer.

Yesterday I got a call from a friend of mine inviting me over for dinner. "Yeah, why not?".

Rode there for the convenience and left a little after midnight. It was around -5°C/-6°C according to my ever "accurate" air temperature sensor. Hit a fog bank on my way home and before I could raise the windshield my visor was already a frozen mess... :dopeslap:

Should have brought a potato along...
