NJNeal
Has anyone successfully installed Clip On handlebars on their 1150RT? I would like to move bars forward a couple inches, and hopefully lower, too. Getting a cramp between shoulders. Thanks for relaying any experience. Link to comment
Peter Parts
R1100S has clip-ons. Originally came with very racy ones, below the upper triple clamp. Nearly everybody bought the later, above-the-clamp ones or moved the early ones up. These are made to be attached at only one angle. But no problem rotating them or even raising the stanchions a bit over the clamp... if you have a torque wrench to ensure proper grip. And you can buy bar-backs that move them further around too. Somewhere hidden under the Tupperware might be the same stanchions on your bike. For sure, important to get the ergos right. Ben Link to comment
AndyS
I would suggest you are looking at the wrong bike if you want to drop the bars AND move them forward. Most folk look to raise the bars and move them back. I think you will find it quite hard to achieve your objective on the RT. I believe with either action (lowering or forward) you will end up with collision problems of the bars hitting the fairing. That said, you may be able to get an RS top triple clamp with its assosiated bars. They are somewhat adjustable. Andy Link to comment
r77toy
R bars have the same bolt pattern as the RT, are about 1" lower and further forward. Link to comment
NJNeal
Thanks for the responses. I looked at it again this morning before work, and agree that there just isn't much room before you'd hit the dash. I will look at the R Bars as a potential solution....every little bit would help I think. As it is, I am getting a knot between my shoulder blades when I ride it. Link to comment
