Selden
I guess the 10 minute estimate is after I have the fairings off, the left peg assembly rotated out of the way, and the starter out. Ten minutes on a GS. Maybe a little longer on your bike. The way I misplace things, I need an hour just to find misplaced tools and parts. The 4mm hex wrench that disappeared on January 19 is still AWOL. Link to comment
enfoman
I DID IT! Finally, the wait will be over tomorrow when I can get the bike out after I started to change out my clutch, leaking transmission input seal and spline lube back in December! The only left over part is a lone 4 mm? washer from under one of the bolts on the OUTSIDE of the bike. I think it fell off when I had to get the battery box off... so be it. Max has a nice sponsored meet and ride scheduled tomorrow about eighty miles away off the Taconic parkway, I am thinking about it but for the first few runs, I think I will stay a bit more local for a shakedown. Brian PDQ Signs
I know this is a non-sequitor, so I apologize, but since I have the attention of a couple of gurus; based on this morning's thread I now have a cart full of parts at Max BMW, all at list price. Does anyone discount OEM parts (before I pull the checkout trigger)? Thanks! www.chicagomotorrad.com I just ordered a new clutch for my RT from these guys, it should be here on Friday. I've used them in the past and so far everything I've ordered has been in stock and shipped very quickly. They also offer a 15% discount if you enter "PROMO15" at checkout. Did you have to call them to see about the clutch? I just checked their website and they don't have any clutch parts for my RT.??? Link to comment
Selden
I just wanted to say "thank you" again. Bike sat out in heavy rain overnight in Delaware. I started it this morning, and got the alternating light blink code. Last year, I wired in a standard SAE 2-pin connector for charging the battery, after accidentally leaving it for 2 days with the parking light on. So, it was quite easy to get a good ground from the diagnostic connector. Since I'm on a trip to New England, I decided to coil up the lamp wire, and stick it in the tool storage area.
