dba
My buddy picked up my bike from GO AZ Cycles after having the right side rebuilt. 109 miles into my trip home, I get flagged down at a stop light with a motorist telling me my bike is smoking. Â I didn't notice it as I was at speed but as soon as he told me, I noticed it also. I pull off the the side of the road, stop the engine and this (see photo) forms underneath the bike. There was not the complete failure like last time and the bike still runs. I'm just a bit gun shy after my last experience along the side of the road. Â I called my buddy, yet again and he came with his trailer and we took it back to his house. Of course the dealership is closed until Tuesday. Any ideas? I did notice that prior to my leaving, the oil sight glass was completely full. Could this have happened from being overfilled? Â Needless to say, I"m not too happy right now with GO AZ Cycles' Service Dept. Â Â Link to comment
mbelectric
Jeez David, a run of bad luck. Hope the head wasn't damaged from the prior event. Amazing how shops will let stuff go out the door. Test ride before ya hand it off to the customer. I'd like to give 'em the benefit of doubt, but I'm beginning to wonder. As my PM told ya, you need to go further with these people. A right side rebuild without the proper steps is worthless. Can't just throw new parts at the bike. Keep us all posted. Internet forums are a wonderful thing. Especially this one. Good fortune be with you. MB> Link to comment
dba
Mark, Turns out the culprit this time was a failure of the Main Shaft Seal. It wasn't noticed or the bike wasn't broken down that far during the piston repair. They were apologetic for the bike breaking down 100 miles into my return home trip. They did give me a little break on the labor costs so that was helpful. The bike ran like a champ on my two day ride home from Phoenix. It does have the cleanest oil after having three oil changes in 100 miles but it didn’t appear to use a drop during the trip. Link to comment
