Wife and I are vacationing in Clover SC to see the Kids/Grand Kids. Made a trip to Charleston to view Boeing and have a look around. Question if we make the move, I see there is Champion BMW, Local riding, Clubs? . So if there is anyone in the Charleston area and would like to PM me and let me know "Fun" riding there I would love to here from you. I know comming from Seattle, heat/humidity will be the first thing to learn.

Thanks to all SC, riders

There are some interesting little towns, but all the roads are straight and flat. Strip mall after strip mall. (I'm a Myrtle Beach native). There's not really much riding I would consider interesting until you get up to the northwest corner of the state.

I just did touristy visits to Charleston, with my wife, by car. A very nice town, pretty, good restaurants, etc. Not a good motorcycling center of activity.

Nope, coming from Seattle sun is the first thing to learn.

We moved from Eugene, Oregon to Hot Springs, Arkansas....we now buy sun block in gallon jugs.

I lived in Charleston in the 1996-97 timeframe. The downtown area near Market and meeting street is incredible as is East Bay and the battery. Patriots point and Mt. Pleasant are also very nice. The Beaches are some of the best in the Carolina's in my opinion.

That being said, I live in the Upstate in the Greenville, SC area now and have since 2006. If someone offered to double my salary with a move to Charleston I still wouldn't take it. If your looking for Motorcycling heaven, Charleston ain't it.

YMMV

Hi Ron, I live in Summerville, about 20 miles NW of Charleston. I work in Charleston, and commute on my R12RT when the rain chance is 30% or less. This morning my temp gauge showed 86F at 6:30 AM with about 85% humidity. I believe that humidity is manufactured here for the rest of the country!! Anyhow, mostly flat, a few curvy roads here and there. Keep in mind that the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Tail of the Dragon are but a few hours away!! Lots of history here too!! Champion Honda is a small dealer, but I have a good relationship with Randy Morgan in the shop there, he is a good guy. Maybe we could start our own club in the area? My sister-in-law is a realtor, maybe she could help you find a place? Enough rambling for now, and if you do come to the area, here's a big southern WELCOME!!Come on down!!

I love the Isle of Palms.

Riding isn't first on the list when I think of Charlestown.

Nice people, some lovely places, a lot to do that isn't mc related.

Lived in Chas. for 40yrs before movin to Florida. Best roads I found there were HWY61,HWY41,and theres another one going out towards Edisto Beach thats nice and shady. There are also nice riding roads to places like Kiawai(spell?) Isl,Hilton Head too. You just gotta mount up and go ridin, theres plenty to see and do there. Ken
