LOL....I've been told that more than once.

People in general are amazed at my total lack of interest in anything with an "i" in front of it along with Facebook, Twitter, Blogging, Texting and all the other (IMO) wastes of time out there.

I chose NOT to be more "connected" other than my cellphone, emails, internet, and face to face communications.

As it is I probably spend WAY too much time on the web now.

YMMV

Regards

Bernd

I went and viewed the websites. Best I can tell the app is free. You can then use this "free" app to buy a digital subscription.

+1. In fact the people who may need help are those who feverishly clutch their i-whatevers every waking moment of the day. I'm sure if I was armed with all the various i-doodads and face thingies I'd be the same way...it appears to be addictive. This website alone is bad enough

Spoken from my heart. I'm glad I'm not alone. Add no GPS, except for finding addresses. Cellphone: Only for emergencies. I don't give out the number, except special occasions.

Well, you know, times have changed and this might be a generational thing, but the way we communicate has evolved over time, from smoke signals and pigeon deliveries to mail. We used to send post cards, then telephone became the rage. We used to write letters to each other. My, what a bother that would be today. With the advent of e-mail, which is already old hat, who uses regular mail? Now the young generation communicates constantly via texting, facebook and the like. We are always connected and many certainly by choice. The "off" buttons on those devices are always kept very small, can't find the damn thing, ah well, just keep spending the data dollars. I adjusted to a degree, since I work with a lot of younger people and I don't want to be on the outside... and I like it. Some apps on my Blackberry are actually useful! So it goes, I wonder what's next?

So, we all have the choice to adopt new ways or stick with what we are used to. Nothing wrong with either.

Have a great day!

BerndM:

So what does YMMV mean?

Your mileage may vary, AKA people are different.

It is definitely true when it comes to I-(insert your thing)

Could be related to age for some, others are just too busy with other stuff, or care less. I am with BerndM on this and care less about apps.

I used to stay on top of the latest gadgets, but now I don't give a rat's behind and I am only 42 years young.

I said to my daughter:"if you want anything from me, DON'T text! call, yell or just walk six stairs from your room and tell me.

I can see how certain apps may be useful for a specific purpose, other apps for entertainment.

Well, YMMV. I'm 55 and have a desk top computer (probably my 15th since 1984), a netbook, a laptop, a Blackberry, a Droid, an Ipod touch, and a Kindle. I Twitter, Facebook, blog (both professionally and privately), and use LinkedIn. My photos, videos, and documents live in the cloud. I suspect there's a pad in my near future.

I'm fully connected (except I don't tweet or read other's or Facebook) but just because I'm connected doesn't mean I need to answer. I try to keep email to 4 times/day check-ins and only answer the cell when I recognize the # and I'm interested in talking. Otherwise I don't answer, it goes to voicemail & sometime in the next day or so I check my VM. If someone I care about really wants to get to me they'll call again or come find me. I love the conversations that go like this:

"Didn't you see I called?"

Yep

"But you didn't answer."

Yep

"Didn't you know it was me?"

Yep

"Why didn't you answer?"

Because I didn't want to :-)

Just because I have a phone doesn't mean I have to answer it. For some reason people seem to think if they call, you must answer.

I think different. If I get a phone call from somebody I know if I can i pick it up, or if voicemail I call back as soon as I can. That's why i don't give out much the number. Same with email. If I know the sender, I answer.
