Kouros
A few months ago one of the cam chain tensioner rails broke (I think left side). It took me a while to find out what is wrong until I took it to Irve Seaver BMW in Socal. They at least wanted $3000 to fix it. Thats how much I purchased this motorcycle for! On some great suggestions from this wonderful forum, I took the motorcycle to RPM cycles in Ventura. It was fixed for the total sum of $400. I asked RPM to check a few other things, valve adjustment, tune up, etc along with 2 sets of new tires. I spent another $700 for paint and voila! It rides so well, looks great (IMO) and I'm looking forward to this long weekend at Yosemite National Park. She's a keeper. Thanks for the great advice. Kouros Link to comment

beemerman2k
What a great story. I swore by RPM Cycles when I was in Los Angeles; they did great work for me. Enjoy Yosemite! And let's see some pictures from the trip. Link to comment
bmw_rider
Careful with that kind of public reporting of comparison pricing, RPM's will start going up! Link to comment
Tony_K
Careful with that kind of public reporting of comparison pricing, RPM's will start going up! Not true. Sever's quote pricing may have been a FU bid, meaning they have other work to attend to. If a sucker... um... I mean, consumer opts to take the bid then so be it. They may even discount the work estimate a bit to look good. RPM on the other hand is a small shop with less overhead. Customers keep coming back and never feel duped and spread the word about this small caring establishment. Win, win. In Sever's defense. The bid may have been extremely miss calculated... too bad for them. Link to comment
tallman
The only way to compare is compare the estimates, what was being calculated. And, perhaps Seaver's would've been comparable once they tore into it. I could give you a worst case estimate and find out it was only best case so it was 10% of original estimate. Glad you're on the road again. Link to comment
