PhilipJCaputo
My wife and I just moved to LA. We are going to give it a go with 1 car and 1 bike. I've had my eye on an RT for several years, and am coming off the st1300 a couple years ago. I'd like to pick up an RT asap so that my wife can have the car and not be stuck at home all day long. I've searched cycletrader, and have a few options at the riverside dealer. '08 for 14.4 with 3k, '09 at 14.9 with 15k (there is '10, but I'm not going that route). (craigslist doesn't have anything) I did also see an '05 in Hunnington Beach (private seller) for 10.9 with 40k. Hollywood Honda has a couple of 06s that are similarly priced with the 09 and 08 at Riverside. I'd almost rather use a dealership, just to get that "comfort" of thinking that the bike has been checked over and has necessary services. Also, I would prefer to finance some of the bike with a credit union or bank, it will probably be easier to finance at the dealer (although I won't let myself get taken to the cleaners). Anyone have any hot leads in the LA area? Link to comment
JR356
Sent a PM. Also look at dealers further afield, such as Bakersfield,Fresno,San Diego. JR356 Link to comment
longjohn
Figure on adding about 2k to the price, if those prices you quote are not "out the door". I've bought my last two bikes at H'wood, one used and one new. They don't have loaners when the bike is in for servicing, but last time I just went to a movie at the Cinerama Dome for a couple of hours. Link to comment
David13
My information says the 08 in Riverside is sold. dc Link to comment

Is that 2k the tax/title/license part that the state gets? I'm sure there is probably a "document fee" in there as well, as most dealers seem to slap on all kinds of extra fees. For an extra 2k, I might just hold out for something from a private seller, or pick up a smaller/older bike to get me around while waiting for the perfect RT to show up. Link to comment
David13
Brown's. The 2011 was sold. The 2009 is the low suspension. The 2006 has 28 k miles. And it's a little long in the tooth. The 09 in Riverside looks real good and has a top box. The 2010 in Riverside is sold today. Phil is out there. I hope he gets that 09. I think it's one of the best around, and about the last one out there at this time. dc Link to comment

Consider pricing a new RT equipped like the used one you're eyeing. You will see there is considerable savings, and that makes the purchase a little more palatable. I found my RT on cycletrader, so if you haven't tried that give it a go. I went to see it at H'wood on a Wed, and bought it on a Sun, and was glad as hell that it was still on the lot. Some comparisons done on Thu, Fri, and Sat confirmed that I was getting a good deal. Link to comment
PhilipJCaputo
I have the 09... Mostly.. The BMW finance system went offline in the middle of my application process, so I put some money down on the bike for them to hold it for me. But because they sent open on Monday, I might not be able to finish things out until Tuesday or Wednesday. Tom came down a little in price, but the bike felt and looked good, so I'm fairly happy with where we are at. I was hoping to get into a low mile 05 or 06, but that just doesn't seem to be in the cards. The only thing I noticed was that the valve covers showed scrapes from what was likely a fall in the driveway. Link to comment
David13
All right. I told him you might be out there. Those bikes go even with high mileage. 50 k or 80 k is not considered high on them. One of the salesmen at another shop told me he had one with 100k and he thought he would never sell it. It sold right away. dc Link to comment
