This is a picture of Christchurch, NZ looking north with the "Southern Alps" in the background. I might get an opportunity to check it out by helping to rebuild and repair the earthquake damage. It would be a one year (+1 day for IRS purposes) assignment.

Looks like an awesome opportunity. Just a side note, my brother who lives in NZ says that the after shock is still on-going. He was wondering how they are going to rebuild with all that still happening. Quite sad, really.

Yep. They just had a couple of good ones yesterday (or today or the day before yesterday, I can't keep track of what day it is over there). They will be going on for a while until the stress is relieved and moves to another location along the plate interface.

 

So, yeah, reconstruction and stabilization will have to go on regardless.

I spent part of a winter (their summer) for 7 years riding in NZ. I was last there in 2004. Best place overall to ride I've ever been.

Yes, Great place and great people.

Fortunate enough to have visited twice for MC trips. Total of about 20 days and saw only one real day of rain. But perhaps I was just lucky.

Best place I have ridden with stunning scenery.

Did a cruise to New Zealand. On every bus tour of the place, I said to myself, "Damn, I wish I was seeing this from the seat of a motorcycle." NZ is a great motorcycle destination!
