Need Help Wiring Mix-It2, Zumo 550 & XM Radio Together

Need some help wiring several things on a new bike.

On my existing bike everything runs thru an Autocom (Super Novi I think); a Zumo 550, Valentine One w/Remote Audio Adapter & XM Radio w/antenna puck. All to my ear buds.

I want to have the same features on another bike using a Mix-It2 & no Autocom. Hear XM music thru the Zumo, be notified by the V1, still hear directions from the GPS. Trouble is I'm not sure exactly how to do it.

Power to Mix-It2, ear plugs to output on the Mix-It; that much I got. Now the adventure begins. I don't know how to hook up the Zumo & V1 so they act as before & I'm not comfortable just plugging stuff in "hit or miss"; worried something will get screwed up.

So, any help/suggestions appreciated, I'd really like to get this right.

I hate to tell you this Mike, but I think you may need another Autocom.

Hi John,

I sure hope not. Several guys I know run a Zumo w/XM radio via Mix-It; I'm adding V1 to the equation. I think (hope) the V1 Remote Audio Adapter will allow it to intergrate smoothly. Realize bike-to-bike helmet-to-helmet is no longer available but otherwise hope to make this work. Web site says it should but not surprisingly, I'm more then a little confused.

What is the additional bike that you are adding audio to?

Hi Gary,

2012 Triumph 800 XC.

Bought an orange '11 but it hasn't arrived yet (should be here this weekend), even though the black &/or white 2012's are coming in. Been waiting a while but Tom (3Putt) has had his for a few weeks & loves it.

He & I are looking towards doing the TransAmerica Trail (one part at a time! :) ) starting later this year. Been 30+ years since dual-sport days but excited about getting back to it. Plan/hope to be done "doctoring" in the next four months so that alone should allow more riding time.

Using something else for bike-to-bike communication so want to keep GPS, V1 & XM Radio as simple & compact as possible, hence the Mix-It2 approach. My biggest concern is intergrating the Valentine in such a way I will hear the warning in my earbuds. I'm thinking that means using the V1 Remote Audio Control or risk "frying" something, thus my asking for help with it here. Gotta figure someone has already done this or it's back to an Autocom-type setup, something I'd like to avoid.

If you wire it according to the previous photo, you will hear the V1 through the priority override on the mono port. You could also add a bluetooth transmitter in place of the ear buds to get bike-to-bike communications through a Scala or SRC system. I use a MixIt2 with Zumo 450, Passport 850, Pioneer Inno and an iPod.

Mike,

The V1 remote works fine with the mix-it. the only issues I had were:

1. headphone plug broke off inside had to purchase a new mix-it.

2.Battery life, when the music sounds distorted garbled etc, change out the 9volt

I have used the remote with the for 4+ years no issues, with two different systems the best and simplest being the mix-it

Jumper.

Thanks All for the information; will (try to) wire everything together & see how it works.

With any luck, I'll have an Autocom Super Novi setup for sale next week. :)
